We once again find ourselves at a pivotal moment in our chapter 54th journey as we facilitate the transition to a new board of directors. Accepting the baton of leadership for PNA Metropolitan DC is both an incredible honor and a profound responsibility. With this role come not only privileges but also significant challenges that we must face together.

Continuing the Legacy of Making a Difference

It is my vision to lead PNAMDC by building upon our longstanding tradition of making a meaningful impact. This commitment to making a difference is the foundation of our chapter’s existence and is woven into the very fabric that defines who we are. To our incoming leaders, I would like to offer an inspirational framework that will guide us in making a difference as an organization over the next two years: Making a Difference with GRIT.

Making a Difference with GRIT

Growth: Our relentless pursuit of growth remains a constant goal. However, our ambitions extend beyond merely increasing our numbers. It is equally essential for us to deepen our commitment to service, strengthen relationships within our membership, and nurture collaborations with our community partners. We must also broaden our reach to nurses across all healthcare settings in the DMV area—especially those who have not yet discovered the remarkable opportunity that is PNA Metropolitan DC.

Giving: I draw great inspiration from the biblical story of the feeding of the multitudes, which teaches us that the act of sharing—regardless of the size of our contribution—can yield tremendous impact. Whether you offer your time, talent, or resources, your contribution is vital and truly makes a difference. With the diverse strengths and resources within our chapter, we are poised to achieve remarkable success together.

Resilience: The journey ahead promises to be an extraordinary one, filled with both challenges and opportunities. There will be moments of difficulty and adversity. Yet, when we unite, supporting each other and persevering through obstacles—no matter how daunting—they become surmountable. Our greatest achievements are often found on the other side of these challenges.

Integrity: Our foundation must be rooted in transparency, honesty, and unwavering principles of integrity. These values will serve as our compass as we advance toward our goals, providing us with the strength and stability necessary for success. By upholding integrity in all that we do, we pave the way for our organization’s continued growth and accomplishment.

Transformation: Above all, my hope is that everything we undertake in the next two years will be transformative—not only for each member of this organization but also for the countless lives we touch. I envision that our executive team, committees, task force, and every member of PNAMDC will emerge as better leaders in their homes, workplaces, and communities. Our responsibility as leaders is to nurture the next generation of leaders among us. Only when we accomplish this can we truly affirm that we have successfully led our chapter.

Moving Forward Together: To our newly inducted board of directors and esteemed members, I invite you to join me with enthusiasm and steadfast commitment in Making a Difference with GRIT. Together, we will shine brightly and create a better, more vibrant future for generations to come.
